'Have you seen the news today?' the man allegedly asked when he was arrested. He was before he could get to crowds by the famed Christmas tree. Man arrested near Rockefeller Plaza with gasoline can, matches A man carrying a gasoline can, matches and a book, has been charged with making a "terroristic threat" after he was arrested near Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, USA. FYI a "terroristic threat" is a threat to commit a crime of violence or a threat to cause bodily injury to another person and terrorization as the result of the proscribed conduct. Several U.S. states have enacted statutes which impose criminal liability for "terroristic threatening" or "making a terroristic threat." So not necessarily related to terrorism although it is directly related to terror (the emotional response).
