M4 accessories wish list

Steve at HogOnIce asked about accessories for the AR. Versitile, customizable rifles with a huge selection of accessories available.

Here in Israel we carry the IDF issue M16A1 (and the M4) as members of the local militia.

I carry my M16A1 with a barrel mounted laser sight/pointer with a PTT on my tactical fore grip in the front, a Surefire flashlight, and a rear pistol grip. I also have a see through mount for my 50mm 3-9X scope with lighted rangefinder reticle so I can use the iron sights at close range. And a magazine coupler.

I added accessories as they became available as my budget for add ons is nonexistent.

Each accessory has been carefully checked out and certified by the anti-terror team.

If I had my way, I'd upgrade to a newer M4 rifle and set it up like this:

Steve, I don't think Mrs. DoubleTapper would appreciate me naming her Vera, but since she's a Colt, I could probably get away with calling her Filly.

Of course there are many more accessories and options available...

Rabbi shoots and kills terrorist preventing stabbing

At 17:30 today, an Arab terrorist approximately 20 years old drew an 8 inch knife and attempted to stab a 15 year old Jewish boy at a bus stop near the town of Shiloh.

Rabbi Erez Bar-On, who was at the bus stop, drew his pistol fired twice killing the terrorist on the spot.

IDF officials said Monday that Rabbi Erez Bar-On did the right thing, “The citizen acted properly, in a decisive and fitting manner,” officials said. Rabbi Bar-On’s quick response saved the 15-year-old, who was not hurt in the attempted stabbing.

PA corruption exposed, again

Senior officials in the PA (Palestinian Authority) health system systematically stole valuable medications and replaced them with worthless placebo pills.

The placebos, which lab tests show had no medical value, were passed along to clinics and hospitals, where they were given to patients suffering from serious and often life-threatening diseases.

The real medications were taken to massive warehouses in Ramallah and Shechem, and were sold for high prices on the black market.

More here.

This is who United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is pressuring us to make peace with? And give them more weapons?

They can't even keep track of medicine and we're supposed to give them Russian APC's.

Obama's "former" Pastor gets standing ovation

From Chicago Tribune:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright got a raucous standing ovation when he entered Saint Sabina church on the city's South Side on Friday night, according to video from WBBM-TV. Members yelled "Hallelujah!" as Wright embraced The Rev. Michael Pfleger, Saint Sabina's pastor.

The smiling Wright accepted an invitation to give the benediction at the Roman Catholic church but did not address the furor over his past sermons. He also sang "Happy Birthday" to Angelou, whose birthday is April 4.

The video:

Wright Quotes:

" ...
wants us to sing God bless America. No, no, no, not God bless America, God damn America..."

"... The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color"

And a huge crowd gives him a standing ovation?
Am I the only one disgusted by this?

IWI Tavor Rifle fest, as promised

After 4 1/2 months of intensive training, culminating in a 50k high speed forced march in full gear, the basic trainees of the Givati Infantry Brigade are graduating.

This is the same group of trainees who's allegiance ceremony I attended last month.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Yoav Fortress (Givati Brigade Museum) near the Givati Junction not far from Kiryat Gat east of Ashkelon.

Thursday was a beautiful spring day, with clear bright skies and temperatures in the mid 70's (Fahrenheit). I took advantage of the weather and rode my Yamaha XTZ660 the 60 mile trip.

As I arrived I saw the serviceman near the entrance. I took out my camera and snapped a few pictures.

Notice that there are IWI Tavor rifle's everywhere you look.

Fitna is still available online

Friday I posted that Fitna was available on LiveLeak but due to treats on LiveLeak's staff, they took the movie down.

But this is the Internet, and since they threaten our lives everyday here in Israel, Ill post where the movie is till available online.

If you are a Bit Torrent user you can download Fitna in a bunch of different formats here , here and here.

And you can still watch Fitna the Movie here:

Duch Movie Fitna is finally made available

Duch Movie Fitna is finally made available, it includes graphic footage of Moslem terror attacks around the world, including beheadings, disfigured bodies, destroyed buses, etc. Scenes are accompanied by the relevant verses in the Koran, such as, "Prepare for them whatever force and cavalry ye are able of gathering to strike terror, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies." Followed by clips of a plane slamming into the World Trade Center, and Moslem Clergy calling for the annihilation of all infidels.

One Moslem cleric is seen calling for the murder of Jews; he unsheathes a sword and screams, "By Allah, we shall cut off the Jew's head! Allah is great! Allah is great! Jihad for the sake of Allah!" The audience, in a similar frenzy, cheers him on.

The film ends with "It is not up to me, but up to Moslems themselves to tear out the hateful verses from the Koran. Muslims want you to make way for Islam, but Islam does not make way for you. The government insists that you respect Islam, but Islam has no respect for you. Islam wants to rule, submit, and seeks to destroy our Western civilization. In 1945, Nazism was defeated in Europe. In 1989, Communism was defeated in Europe. Now, the Islamic ideology has to be defeated."

See the movie here:

my first ever firearm.

Jessica: I'm just one little girl in the world.

Anthony: I own a gun because I'm a fuckin' American and a Marine. It's my God-given right.

Bashir: I just think it's a good thing to have.

Beth: I have one for self protection. I was raised to never rely on anyone else to protect me or watch my back.

Jerry: We are our own last line of defense.

Ashley: There are few things that beat a good day at the gun range, but the biggest reason I own firearms is because it’s my right as a citizen...

Dan: I consider the ownership of arms not only a right, but the duty of a free people to themselves and future generations.

Ok so now we know why they own guns.

The Only Ones...

In Britain the only ones that can carry handguns are the police...

Britain is proving that disarming the masses and putting firearms only in the hands of so called "experts" isn't the best idea.

Gun injuries have gone up after police officers have shot themselves - and colleagues - by mistake. The number of armed police officers accidentally shooting themselves – and other colleagues – has soared in the past five years. Now, nearly half of all injuries caused by police shootings are the result of officers blasting themselves or a colleague, often during bungled training and demonstrations.

And in D.C. the Chief of Police only wants the experts to have guns too.

Oppose Israel, Pay $10 for Cheerios?

This was posted today at HogOnIce. Not the most likely name for a blog that you'd expect an Orthodox Jewish Gun Nut living in the Land of Israel to be reading every day, but believe me it's worth your time.

"Eretz Israel" is Hebrew for "Land of Israel" and refers to the Land that was promised to the Jewish People by God in the Torah (Old Testament).

Oppose Israel, Pay $10 for Cheerios?

Count me Out

I stumbled across something interesting last night. I'll bet a lot of you know who Hal Lindsey is. He wrote The Late Great Planet Earth back in the Eighties. It's all about his interpretation of Biblical prophecy. I just came across one of his columns, and I thought some of you might want to take a quick look.

I'm not endorsing this guy. I don't really remember all of his positions. But he believes in Eretz Israel, and so do many other Christians, and so--unbelievably--do a few Jews. Eretz Israel is the term used to describe the land promised to the Jews by God. It's not totally clear what it means, but it's definitely bigger than the little sliver of land the Jews currently defend. Hal Lindsey says:

The "land for peace" formula called for Israel to give up some of the land of Promise in exchange for peace. In other words, it was a form of blackmail whose terms were drawn up in Washington and forced upon Israel for the express purpose of undoing what God had already done, including dividing Jerusalem and taking part of it from the Jews.

I've been a supporter of Israel for a very long time. But somehow it never occurred to me how wrong it was to pressure the Jews to cede land--their birthright--even temporarily. I always figured that as long as Israel was reasonably secure and covered a fair amount of real estate, everything was on course. And I thought America was doing well, by funding Israel's defense and attacking her enemies. But I was wrong. George Bush should never have entertained the notion of making the Jews give anything back. They are surrounded by vicious barbarians, and they treat Arabs within their borders better than Arabs treat their own, and as far as I'm concerned, it's fine with me if they take over half of the Middle East. It would be nothing but progress. In their hearts, the Arabs agree. Historically, they have busted their asses trying to sneak into Israel, much as Mexicans sneak into the USA. They haven't just entered to commit acts of terrorism. They also wanted jobs and better treatment than they got at home.

I thought America was a country that would be blessed for harboring and helping Jews. But Hal Lindsey and the Orthodox Jews are right. What we are doing over there is very, very wrong. So maybe Lindsey and the Torah-believing Jews are right when they saw America is having hard times because of it.

Yesterday I read that a pizza maker was paying $37 each for bags of flour that cost him $16 a month ago. Because of the ethanol farce. Ethanol is a proven hoax, yet we are going to starve our children (and the children of foreigners who eat our grain) to keep the ignorant hippies happy. Oil is plentiful, and nuclear energy is cheap, safe, and virtually inexhaustible, but energy costs are skyrocketing because we are crippled by completely irrational policies about building reactors, and because the oil companies and the hippies agree that we shouldn't build refineries. Money that used to stay here now goes to India and China and even Brazil. The Euro, which used to be a joke, has traded places with the dollar. Real estate is tanking, and it's going to continue for at least another year. There is no place for Americans to put their money, unless they want to invest abroad. It's starting to look like a perfect storm. For people who believe in God, it shouldn't be a big surprise.

I don't care what the UN says. I don't care what atheists say. We need to help Israel. Does that make us accessories to Imperialism? Fine. I couldn't care less. Some people don't deserve autonomy, and a whole lot of them are concentrated in the Middle East. Maybe you remember a guy named Saddam Hussein. Can you seriously tell me that murdering savage deserved to be in charge of a country? Iraq would have been better off as a colony of Haiti.

I don't talk about it much, but I have come to realize that imperialism is a very good thing. Many nations are just too dangerous to be allowed to run their own affairs. Syria, North Korea, China, Iran, Russia...wouldn't you sleep better at night if these nations were controlled by civilized countries in the west? I sure would. We'd be doing their citizens a huge favor. Everyone knows that. But no one has the integrity to say it.

Maybe the US is on its way to second-world status. But you don't have to be part of it. For $350, you can move a Jew from a Diaspora nation to Israel. You can feed poor Jews in Israel. You can fight the anti-Jewish press. Conservatives like to say that we shouldn't count on the government to do good alms for us. That is true. We can give on our own. And we can also conduct foreign policy on our own. Why wait for George Bush to correct his mistakes when you can bypass him entirely? Go to the website of the International Federation of Christians and Jews and find out what you can do. Or find other organizations that do the same kind of work.

Here's another quote:

"And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it" (Zechariah 12:3).

But the Bible is just a myth, right? Isn't that what they told you in college? Maybe Zechariah was a lucky guesser.

Here's my advice. Help America and help yourself and your family. By helping Israel directly. And let's admit we support the concept of Eretz Israel. The hippies may desert us, but God will not.

And now I am OFF TO THE RANGE.

Keep up the good work Steve!

Local Militia Gear

What gear do the local militia groups carry?

As I've mentioned before, the Israeli Government recognizes the needs of communities to defend themselves. The Police, and IDF can't be everywhere, so local militias were sanctioned.

The militia's, called First Response Teams are coordinated by the IDF.

The IDF issues M16A1 rifle, magazines and ammo, (and trains us in anti-terror and Hostage Rescue tactics).

All other gear must be purchased privately.

Here's my Kit:

Helmet, Knee and Elbow Pads, Glock 17, Glock 33 round magazines, Bayonet, Camp USA Folding Knife, Bandage, Tourniquet, Illumination Flare, Smoke Flare, Leatherman, Binoculars, Reflectiv ID Cap, Light Stick, Spare Foam Ear Plugs, and Ceramic Flack Vest.

Ammunition:

5.56 - 180 rounds
9mm - 85 rounds

It's a bit weighty, but a few workouts every week help lighten the load.

I'll try to find some related video to upload here.

Legal Weapons Storage in Israel

I was reading online at HogOnIce about how he's dealing with locking up his weapons. And it occurred to me that I haven't answered one of my reader's questions.

Where do you keep your gear?

In a Rifle Safe of course!

Here in Israel, all weapons are the sole responsibility of the owner. If you lose your weapon, you are required by law to file a police report. All weapons must be in your possession or under lock and key at all times.

A basic locally manufactured rifle safe is ideal for what I need.

An additional Pistol Safe is the perfect place to store important documents and Mrs. DoubleTapper's Glock 26 when she's not carrying.

Israel to Host Talks on Women in the Military in September 2008

IDF General Staff Adviser on Female Affairs Brigadier-General Yehudit Grisaro will host an international conference on the role of women in the military in Israel in September. Participants in the three-day conference will visit IDF bases and hear from female soldiers. Lectures will focus on women’s experience in the military in countries worldwide.

Grisaro explained that Israel was a natural location for the conference due to the relatively high level of female integration in the IDF. Israel has drafted women since the state was founded, she said, and 38 percent of IDF soldiers and 26 percent of officers are women.

As you've probably already heard, Israel drafts all men and women into the IDF at the age of 18. Men serve three years in the IDF, while women serve two. The IDF allows women who volunteer for combat positions to serve for three years because combat soldiers must undergo a lengthy period of training. Women in other positions, such as programmers, who require lengthy training time may also serve three years. Women in most combat positions are also required to serve as reserve for several years after their release from active service.

M4 Rifle in IDF

There are currently more M4 rifles in use in the IDF then any other rifle.

The M4's (and M16A1, M16A3, and various other M16 variants) have been in constant use by the IDF since the 1970's.

My M16A1 is so old that it rattles loudly. But it still shoots great.

The IDF uses the M4 for the majority of it's rifle tasks, from sentry duty, to specialized Urban Warfare an everything in between. Anti Terror squads, marksmen, infantry, combat engineers, all carry the M4 in various configurations, with all kinds of accessories.

Chrome lined barrels, scopes of all kinds, and even M203 grenade launchers are in use by the IDF on their M4's.

From the NEWS Israeli’s home hit by Molotovs

01:00 AM EDT on Monday, March 17, 2008
By RICHARD C. DUJARDIN

Journal Staff Writer

PROVIDENCE, RI, USA — A Molotov cocktail was thrown into the apartment of a graduate student from Israel but did not explode and a second liquid-filled bottle landed in the yard outside the apartment building, exploded and burned itself out early Saturday, triggering an intensive investigation by several agencies including the FBI.

Targeted in the 1:15 a.m. episode was the second-floor apartment of Josef Knafo, 25, at 122 Camp St., a Brown University graduate fellow who also works at the the Brown University/Rhode Island School of Design Hillel House, on the city’s East Side. Knafo was home at the time, said Deputy Police Chief Paul J. Kennedy.

“At this point, we just don’t know whether to call this a hate crime because we don’t know the motivation,” Kennedy said yesterday.

Knafo, who is from Afula, Israel, has been in the United States as an emissary for the Jewish Agency for Israel, an organization that sends young people around the world to conduct educational, religious and cultural programs.

Kennedy said Knafo was in the kitchen of his apartment when he heard a bang. After looking out the window and seeing the fire on the ground, he came upon the unexploded bottle inside his bedroom, Kennedy said.

Whether the attack was directed at Knafo as a result of some personal grudge, or for some other “global reason, we just don’t know,” Kennedy said. “However, we are taking this very seriously.”

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI’s Anti-Terrorism Task Force sent investigators to the scene.

Some members of the Jewish community did not learn about the attack until later Saturday, after reading about it on the Web sites of the Jerusalem Post and another Israeli newspaper.

Marty Cooper, the community relations director and security coordinator for the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, said local synagogues and other Jewish institutions were strongly advised yesterday to heighten their security.

“We are thankful nobody was hurt in this attack and we commend the Providence Police Department for the seriousness with which they are investigating,” said Stephen Silberfarb, executive vice president and CEO for the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island. “We have been in close contact with Mayor [David] Cicilline, the Providence police, the FBI and Homeland Security officials and are grateful they share our deep concern over this attack.”

Knafo was described by the police and other officials as deeply concerned but not frightened. However, as a precaution, the police said they felt it prudent to move him to another location while the investigation continues. He left word yesterday through the Jewish Federation that he did not want to be interviewed.

And according to the Jewish Agency for Israel (the official Israeli governmental agencey that supports Jewish Communities outside of Israel)

...Agency officials cite tensions that may have risen over the weekend due to a massive Jewish Agency campaign on dozens of university campuses and in hundreds of synagogues and schools in the US and worldwide to commemorate the March 6 terror attack on Jerusalem's Mercaz Harav Yeshiva which killed eight students...(from here)

So it's the fault of the worldwide Jewish Community for wanting to mourn our dead???

I'd love for someone to explain this one to me.

Hero silenced by the liberal media

As you may remember, Rabbi Yitzchak Dadon shot the terrorist at Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva High School in Jerusalem last week.

You probably haven't heard his name since. Why? After all he is a hero.

Apparently the liberal media don't like heroes that speak the truth. He made a major media blunder. The reporters of Israel’s television stations enthusiastically interviewing the hero of the evening in a live broadcast got more than they bargained for.

Rabbi Dadon insisted on associating the massacre in the yeshiva with Shimon Peres (currently the President of Israel and one of the architects of the failed Oslo peace plan that armed the terrorists), and with Ehud Olmert, Israel's current Prime minister, who has picked up where Peres left off.

The two reporters quickly cut Rabbi Dadon off, attempting to censor him.

The media was in a bind. The hero said all the wrong things. But they quickly found a solution. David Shapira, the yeshiva graduate who continued to shoot the terrorist after Rabbi Dadon had already severely wounded or possibly killed him, became the new hero. He was perfect for the part. He is still serving in the IDF (he was on a weekend furlough at the time) and cannot give interviews and say embarrassing forbidden truths in live national news broadcasts.

There you have it. Another hero silenced by the liberal press.

Glock 17 In Israel

Readers are surprised that with all of the pistols available here in Israel, I chose the Glock 17.

The Glock 17 was the first pistol designed and manufactured by the Austrian company Glock. It is a locked breech, short recoil 9 mm Para semi-automatic pistol with a standard magazine capacity of 17 rounds of ammunition. It uses a modified Petter/Browning barrel locking system. The Glock 17 appeared in the early 1980s for the Austrian Army weapons trials. It entered service under the designation P80. In 1988, it entered service in the Swedish Army under the designation Pistol 88. It is also used by the Norwegian Army and police. The designation 17 is derived from the gun’s being Gaston Glock’s 17th patent, rather than its magazine capacity. The Glock 17, like all Glock pistols, has a well known reputation for being extremely rugged and reliable.

glock-17-06

The Glock stirred up quite a scare when it was revealed to have a polymer frame. Some people thought that, based on early reports, the whole gun was plastic and/or ceramic, and therefore undetectable by metal detectors. In fact, the slide, barrel and many other internal parts, comprising about 80 percent of the gun’s mass, are made out of metal. The slide and barrel are QPQ Tenifer treated, a process that makes their steel more durable to wear and tear as well as to corrosion.

glock-17-05-mariner

The Glock 17 has become very popular because of its simple controls, high durability, and moderate price. It is also reported to be highly reliable in extreme environments like desert, jungle, and arctic regions. The pistol enjoys widespread use in law enforcement, but is also a very popular military, sports, and self-defense pistol. More than 50 countries use it for law enforcement or military service.

glock-17-03

Description and Specifications

The Glock 17 and all others that Glock has since produced use the “Safe Action” fire control system, a single-action mechanism utilizing a striker instead of a hammer and firing pin. Like most other striker-fired pistols, the Glock pistol requires the trigger to pull the striker back the rest of the way, and to release it. In its ready-to-fire state, the pistol could be considered to be “half-cocked”. This arrangement translates to consistent trigger pulls which some claim makes training easier. Notably absent is any manual user safety, although a trigger safety and additional internal measures prevent accidental discharge. Its frame is made out of an advanced polymer. Glock barrels use polygonal rifling for increased accuracy which works best with jacketed ammunition, otherwise lead build-up in the barrel is likely to cause malfunctioning.

glock-17-02

The Glock 17 (and only model 17) could be modified with “amphibious kit” that allows underwater firing (in very shallow depths, thought). Basically, the underwater shooting itself has very little effect in real combat, since the effective range is extremely short. The real purpose of that feature is to show the strength of the gun and to allow safe shooting in severe weather conditions, with possible water in the barrel (in many guns this may result in blown barrel).

glock-17-04

  • Caliber: 9 mm
  • Cartridge: 9×19 mm
  • Weight: 22.04 oz / 625 g empty
  • Produced: 1980 - present
Because of their reliability Glocks are extremely popular here and Israel.
Both Mrs. DoubleTapper and I carry ours on a daily basis.

More Progress

From Kim du Toit
March 12, 2008
8:12 AM CDT

Now that’s much better:

Nicolas Sarkozy wants to rebuild France’s frayed ties with Israel, notably by echoing its tough stance against Iran.

Peres’ five-day trip to Paris this week is the first state visit the French president has hosted since taking office 10 months ago — itself a potent message of support at a time of renewed Middle Eastern tensions.

And during a pomp-filled dinner Monday, Sarkozy lost no opportunity to assure Peres of his friendship, saying France will always work to ensure Israel’s survival.

“Not from time to time, Mr. President — always,” said Sarkozy. “And those who call in a scandalous, scandalous way for the destruction of Israel will always find France in front of them to block their route.”

France’s gushing display for Peres was a clear effort by Sarkozy to get past often-turbulent ties during President Jacques Chirac’s tenure.

If by ”often-turbulent” you mean a nakedly-Arabist, pro-terrorist official attitude, epitomized by the Frog diplomat who referred to Israel publicly as “that shitty little country”.

Of course, Sarkozy’s attitude is going to cause the immigrant Arabs of France to boil and seethe—but, in the paaphrased words of the great man, screw ‘em. He’s not going to get their votes anyway.

And to paraphrase another great man’s words, ever so slightly: Israel is not what’s wrong with the world. It’s not even what’s wrong with the Middle East, despite all the efforts of the murderous totalitarian Middle East leaders to make us think so.

Nuff said, thanks Kim!
