A lone soldier is an IDF troop that receives IDF "Lone Soldier" status and benefits because they have no family support in Israel. This includes Israeli native born orphans, or those who are estranged from their families, and new immigrants with no family in Israel. Mahal-IDF-Volunteers.org is an way for people who don't live in Israel to come and volunteer to serve. Some MAHAL volunteers qualify to receive "Lone Soldier" status and benefits.
