When I was going through boot at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego a recruit in my unit got a little Hot Wheel car in the mail from his Mother, it was one that looked similar to his car. I'm not sure what the hell she thought he would get to do with it, but when it came in his mail, the DI just lost it. After about a half hour of "Sit, push, run" out on the quarterdeck, he looks at this recruit and says "Son, it's so fucking nice out, we should go for a drive", and then instructs the recruit to get down on the deck, with toy car in hand and drive around the squad bay. Every once in awhile the DI would say time to shift gears, and the recruit would make sounds like he was shifting, and then had to make the car noise as well. It was some funny shit, and he made him do it for what seemed like forever, driving around the squad bay with that little car, until the DI got bored with it. They let him keep the car in the DI hut, and every so often the SDI would bring it out and make him drive it around.
