Biden is the highest-ranking of several senior U.S. civilian and military officials who have traveled to Israel in the past six weeks to make sure Washington and Jerusalem are “on the same page” on Iran, as John Kerry said on a trip there last week.
Some of the other US officials who have visited Israel recently are Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, CIA Director Leon Panetta, National Security Advisor Jim Jones, Strategic Command chief Gen. Kevin Chilton, and Deputy Secretaries of State Jim Steinberg and Jack Lew.
Why did Obama send Biden to Israel?
Biden was selected for the job because he is mistakenly perceived as the most pro-Israel senior member of the administration.
The fact that before becoming vice president Biden had one of the most pro-Iran voting records in the Senate has done nothing to mitigate this perception. Indeed, despite the fact that Biden voted repeatedly against sanctions on Iran, claimed that Iran’s quest for nuclear bombs was understandable and called for the US to sign a nonaggression pact with the mullocracy while threatening to move for president George W. Bush’s impeachment if he were to order a military strike against Iran’s nuclear weapons programs, Biden continues to be mistakenly viewed as a solid supporter of Israel.
During USA Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Israel this week, he spoke a lot about how Israel should change it's policies to move the Obama peace plan forward and explicitly warned Israel against venturing to attack Iran without prior American permission, but neglected to make any statements on the Hamas policy of spreading hate and encouraging terrorism. Here is a video from Hamas TV.
It's too bad that no one in Washington bothers to deal with the root cause of Terrorism.
Biden also reprimanded the Israeli Government about building badly needed new housing in the capitol and claimed that it was an obstacle to peace.
