Rapid Fire for Monday, Feb. 21st:
- Uhhh, Sir, it's not working. Protestors holding Libya’s second-largest city? And Debka says they are not regular "protestors", but rather, well-armed revolutionaries.
- Big uh-oh: Bahrain protesters seek to overthrow royal family. Why is this a big deal? Because the US just moved its Central Command there from Kuwait. Great...
- Former Israeli Chief of Staff Ashkenazi: It's time for us to open a major can of whoop-ass (loosely quoted). Actual quote: "in the current state we must preserve our strategic assets, such as the peace with Egypt and Jordan, and even strive to expand it and take out more neighboring countries from the conflict cycle."
- Who says terrorists aren't innovating? Head Hamashole Khalid Mishaal says: "In upcoming days we have a word we will say, an act we will do, and initiatives we will launch". Like new daycare centers and healthcare programs?
- How nice: Hamas has reopened the Rafah crossing point from Gaza to Egypt. Is this a "new initiative"?
- Did the Iranian plan to send their warships into the Med predate the Egyptian revolution? BTW, it's still a "plan", because the ships are not through the canal yet, due to the Finger of God delaying them a bit. (or, in scientific terms, a 5.9 earthquake at the Suez Canal entrance)
