Unemployment in Israel at lower than average

U.S. unemployment soared last month to its highest rate since June 1983, almost hitting double digits. Unemployment was higher than anticipated, rising from 9.4 percent to 9.7 percent . The figures stoked concern that a turnaround in the labor market had still not begun.

Among the almost 15 million unemployed Americans in August, 5 million were out of work for more than 26 weeks.

In stark contrast, unemployment in Israel is at 8 percent, lower then average for the last 10 years.

Actually if you count those who have given up looking for work or dropped off the unemployment compensation roles, US unemployment is reportedly 16-17% right now.
